Bizarre Amazon Glitch Turned into a Generous Donation

That’s what happened to Jillian Cannan, a woman from Buffalo, New York, who found herself with a mountain of boxes containing face mask brackets (silicone support frames).
Get ready for another Amazon glitch story!
Cannan, who runs a small business with her partner, was baffled when the packages started arriving at her doorstep on June 5, 2021. She thought they were supplies for their studio, but they turned out to be something completely different. She also noticed that the packages had her address, but not her name or any return address.
Cannan tried to contact Amazon to return the packages or find out the source, but they told her to keep them since they had been delivered to her home. They also couldn’t trace the original order or the sender, and the tracking information was useless.
The packages kept coming every day for almost two weeks, filling up Cannan’s porch, driveway and garage. Some of them arrived on pallets delivered by huge trucks. Cannan posted about the situation on her Facebook page, attracting the attention of her community and the local media.

Amazon Steps In
Finally, Amazon managed to stop the shipments and remove Cannan’s address from the mystery order. But by then, Cannan had received more than 150 packages containing over 10,000 face mask brackets.
Instead of throwing them away or selling them online, Cannan decided to do something good with them. She and her business partner came up with the idea of creating DIY mask kits for children at local hospitals.
They asked Amazon to donate the rest of the supplies for the kits, such as blank masks and crayons, and the company agreed.

Cannan and her four children started working on putting together the kits and distributing them to the hospitals. They wanted to bring some joy and fun to the patients who have to wear masks during their stay.
Cannan said she still doesn’t know why she received so many packages by mistake, but she is glad that she was able to turn such unusual story into a positive one.
